Tour 3: The Castro

Angie’s best friend Steve is gay, in case you didn’t notice, and he lives in one of the gay meccas of the world, the Castro. He lives on 20^th and Collingwood, in an apartment building that doesn’t quite exist, but don’t let that stop you. Stroll up Castro, check out the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) Historical Society at 499 Castro Street, see a film at the historic Castro Theater, built in 1922, with Wurlitzer organ concerts before the show, and then make a purchase at the Pottery Barn, Steve’s favorite interior design shop. Don’t forget to stop at Cliff’s Hardware, the ultimate variety store! I believe that’s where Steve bought his black beret and his miniature Michelangelo’s David statue.
